If you've been patiently waiting for the next upgrade to your M5 printer, the wait is over. Today, we're excited to announce the official release of PowerBoost 3.0 for all AnkerMake M5 printers!

What is PowerBoost 3.0?

PowerBoost 3.0 is an all new firmware update for M5's current PowerBoost system. It's designed to improve both the speed and print quality of your AnkerMake M5 3D Printer. It does this through two exciting new technologies, an S-smoothing algorithm, and an industrial-grade algorithm. These algorithms work together to improve the overall efficiency and power output of the printer.

Enhanced Vibration Dampening

The 2nd generation vibration dampening algorithm offers additional granularity to resonance measurements--without the need for a G-sensor. The upgrade can also suppress multiple frequencies simultaneously. This results in smoother overall print surfaces with drastically reduced ringing and ghosting.

S-Smoothing Algorithm

The all-new extrusion upgrade offers smoother extrusion control to the S-shaped speed planing curve offering sharper corners and better overall print quality.

M5 Stepper Motors Get a Powerful Boost

PowerBoost 3.0 also brings real-time frequency adjustments to each stepper motor. By adjusting the current to these motors on the fly, the toolhead can achieve much higher precision, and up to a 10% increase in speed over PowerBoost 2.0

How Do I Install PowerBoost 3.0?

Installation of PowerBoost 3.0 is simple, though you'll need physical access to your machine and the latest version of AnkerMake Studio. Here's the procedure:

• Step 1: Power on your M5, making sure that the firmware version is updated to V3.3.19 first. Then click the small octagonal icon in the upper right corner. That will open the Settings menu.

• Step 2: Tap About > Firmware > PowerBoost 3.0.

• Step 3: Tap the green Switch icon, and your printer should install the firmware and reboot.

That's it! Once you've updated the firmware on your machine, PowerBoost 3.0 should be active and ready to ramp up your prints. Just make sure you run the auto-leveling feature before you print your first model, otherwise AnkerMake Studio will remind you to do so.

Will PowerBoost 3.0 Be Available For M5C?

While we're not ruling out a future upgrade for M5C folks, at this time PowerBoost 3.0 is only available for M5 owners. Additionally, new M5 printers will have the upgrade installed at the factory. That means if you're in the market for new M5, you'll be able to use PowerBoost as soon as your printer is set up and configured.
